There are several trails that wind through historical dredge tailings that surround the famous Sumpter Valley Gold Dredge giving access to different perspectives and views of the Dredge in all seasons! State Park Rangers work hard to maintain the trails each summer and each trail is under a mile in length...making these trails great for an afternoon stroll or a walk when your tour of the dredge is through........
During the Winter, the Sumpter Valley State Heritage area is transformed into a winter wonderland! Dredge trails wind through the tailings and offer great snowshoeing! The main snowmobile trail will take you down in front of the Dredge, as you head South through the park. Rangers at the State Park would like to warn you, however, to never leave the marked trail - summer or winter! |
