Join us for opening day festivities on May 1st, 2012 Whether you're looking for information about the Sumpter Valley Dredge, taking a guided tour, enjoying one of the many trails that wind through the State Park, or just looking for a souvenir...we recommend that your visit to the Sumpter Valley Dredge and State Heritage Area begin with a stop in the Interpretive Store! Our helpful staff live in the area and can provide historical information, as well as help you find a great souvenir! You can find books on Gold Mining, gold pans, T-shirts, gold jewelry, post cards.........
gifts and souvernirs for just about everyone....! Don't forget to sign our guestbook while you're in the store! Feeling a touch of gold fever? On the weekends, join the free Gold Panning Lessons given by OPRD Rangers at the Interpretive Store. The Gold Panning is free....and it's only a small fee if you want to keep what you find! Gold Panning Lessons You can also get a free prospecting permit from the Rangers and buy a gold pan in the Interpretive store. The Sumpter Valley Dredge Interpretive Store is managed by The Friends of the Dredge, Inc...a non-profit group of private citizens working together in partnership with the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department to preserve and restore the Dredge. learn more about us....
