Friends of The Dredge, Inc. ~ GrantsFriends of the Dredge, Inc. provides invaluable resources to establish, promote and improve historical interpretive opportunities at the Sumpter Valley Dredge. The Board of Directors works in collaboration with its members and numerous local residents to improve each visitor's experience. As a non-profit organization, we depend on donations of private funds that enable us to assist financially in the restoration and preservation of the Sumpter Valley Dredge. We would like to thank each grant foundation, and our local residents for financial donations and the work of local volunteers as well! We would especially like to thank those who support us by visiting the dredge each season! For more information about recent grants we've received and others we are working on, send us an email: info@friendsofthedredge.com The public is always welcome and encouraged to attend our board meetings as well! Restoring and preserving the exterior.....The exterior restoration is part of $475,500 project to complete Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the restoration and interpretation plan at the dredge. Plans include implementing the interpretive plan developed in June of 2009, enhancing the interpretive center and store, developing a walking tour of the Sumpter Valley Heritage Area that surrounds the Dredge, and preserving the building’s exterior. We are also excited about a local partnership that has been formed to preserve, restore, and interpret this cultural asset for present and future generations. The partners are raising $475,500 over the next three years to complete the interpretive plan, restoration work and leverage public sector funds. Oregon Parks & Recreation Department has set aside $300,000 in this bi-annum to begin restoring the exterior envelope of the dredge. Show your support by voting for the Sumpter Valley Dredge's

The Kinsman Foundation is a private foundation built on the philanthropy of John and Elizabeth T. Kinsman of Milwaukie, Oregon. The foundation makes many grants primarily in the areas of historic preservation, native wildlife rehabilitation and appreciation, and health care policy. An important element of all their grants is a benefit to the public at large rather than to specialized populations or groups.
